It’s been a big week for FIAT. First Gucci, then J. Lo.
Last Friday, Gucci and FIAT joined together to launch the North American version of the Gucci designed Fiat 500 and 500c at the Gucci flagship store on Fifth Avenue in New York.
This mixture of FIAT and Gucci design represents the perfect combination of craftsmanship and style, while bringing together two of Italy’s most respected brands.
Gucci Creative Director Frida Giannini worked together with FIAT’s Centro Stile to design this sophisticated and one-of-a-kind vehicle.
“In the ’50s, the Fiat 500 created a style revolution when it first hit the road. It quickly became the must-have car of its time. Traveling in style has also been at the heart of Gucci ever since Guccio Gucci founded his company as a producer of leather trunks, suitcases and handbags in 1921. So, when Lapo Elkann suggested the idea of this collaboration, it struck me as a perfect opportunity to create a new, modern travel statement in Gucci’s 90th anniversary year,” said Frida Giannini.
These limited-edition Cinquecento models are available is both Gucci Nero (black) and Gucci Bianco (white) models as well as the hatchback and Cabrio models. Inspired by neo-classical black-and-white films, the vehicles are finished with pearl-gloss paint with accenting brushed or bright chrome that is sure to turn heads on the road.
Days later a 2012 Fiat 500 Cabrio was featured in a 30-second trailer for Jennifer Lopez’s new “Papi” video (above). The trailer first aired during the first “Monday Night Football” game on ESPN of the 2011 NFL season.
Ms. Lopez will also appear in commercials for the 2012 Fiat 500 that will begin airing later this year.
“Like the Fiat consumer, Jennifer Lopez sees the world as her canvas and is not afraid to express herself; she is continuously drawn to projects that are authentic and real,” said Olivier Francois, chief marketing officer for the Chrysler Group.
