October marked the seventh consecutive month for an increase in Chrysler Group Sales. Spurred by the continued success of the new Jeep Grand Cherokee, sales were up 37 over last year.
“Our new Jeep Grand Cherokee created a consumer buzz that generated showroom traffic and sales. Now we’re sparking more consumer excitement as we release images and details about our all-new and significantly-refreshed products arriving in dealerships this quarter,” said Fred Diaz, president and chief executive officer – Ram Truck Brand and lead executive for U.S. Sales.
Chrysler Group is introducing 16 all-new significantly-refreshed 2011 models. Eleven of the models will be launched before the end of the year, and five of them are already in dealerships.
Jeep Sales Highlights
The Jeep Brand posted a 111 percent sales increase over October 2009, with all models in production seeing a gain in sales. Sales increased 291 percent over last year for the Jeep Grand Cherokee, and 49 percent for the Jeep Wrangler. Jeep Patriot and Jeep Compass also had strong sales, with triple-digit percentage sales increases.
Ram Truck Highlights
The Ram Truck Brand posted a 37 percent sales increase in October.
Ram pickup truck sales increased 41 percent in October, with both light- and heavy-duty pickup truck sales posting double-digit percentage sales increases. Crew Cab and Quad Cab models continue to be the most popular consumer choices.
Dodge Brand Highlights
The Dodge Brand posted a 3 percent sales increase in October. The Dodge Caliber, alone, posted a triple digit percentage sales increase over October 2009, while the Dodge Challenger and Dodge Nitro each posted double-digit sales gains. Challenger set a new sales record for the month of October with 3,182 units sold.
Chrysler Brand Highlights
The Chrysler Brand posted a 29 percent sales increase in October, compared with the same month in 2009. The Chrysler Town & Country minivan, the brand’s volume leader, posted a sales increase of 18 percent, continuing the model’s pattern of year-over-year sales increases every month this year. And Chrysler 300 sales increased 79 percent.
