Overall, customers are happier with Chrysler products in 2009 than a year ago, according to the American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI). The study, conducted by the University of Michigan, is a national economic indicator of customer evaluations of the quality of products and services available to household consumers in the United States.
Chrsyler and Jeep were both among the most improved in the ACSI, with Chrysler gaining 5% in customer satisfaction, thus marking the third highest improvement of the 25 brands in the study. Meanwhile, Jeep had a 3.9% annual increase in satisfaction ratings, while Dodge increased 3.8%.
“Although the future will obviously be challenging for Detroit, the rise in customer satisfaction provides a much needed improvement in competitive standing,” said University of Michigan Professor Claes Fornell, head of the ACSI. “Making sure that customers are satisfied will be a most important task for the automakers because it leads to higher levels of repeat purchase and fewer customer defections.”
